Western Vocal Singing - Level 1

This a fun course that introduces children from the ages of 5 – 6 years, to basic musical concepts, instruments as well as vocal exercises, and songs that are age appropriate. Percussion games are tailor-made to work on building the child’s sense of rhythm and timing.
By the end of this course one will be able to:
Identify pitch (high, middle range, low notes)
Read basic music notation.
Sing a repertoire of more than 15 songs.
Identify new music instruments and their timbre.

01.

Western Vocal Singing – Level 2

Level two introduces children to basic music theory concepts and focuses on improving one’s ear and pitching ability. Songs are more technically focused and aimed at expanding the child’s vocal range. Music theory is also taught at this level. Children are involved in basic percussion orchestration and fun rhythm activities.Objectives
By the end of this course one will be able to
Sight sing musical patterns and rhythms.
Sing more technically focused songs from different eras.
Apply basic breath control techniques to songs taught.
Expand their vocal range.
Understand and identify the different music instrument families.

02.

Western Vocal Singing – Level 3

This course includes the basics of singing in harmony, learning to read music and percussion orchestration. At this level children are introduced to more contemporary styles in the Pop, Jazz and RnB genres of music. The basics of sight singing and improvisation are also introduced in this course.
Objectives
By the end of this course one will be able to
Expand their vocal range and breath control.
Sing duets, rounds and canons.
Apply better vocal projection and breath control in the songs taught.
Pitch notes more accurately.
Perform a song along with basic modes of communication (eye contact, facial and hand gestures).

03.

Western Vocal Singing – Level 4

Level four is focused on grooming children towards becoming performers. It includes preparation for the Trinity Rock and Pop Vocal exam, theory, improvisation harmony singing, microphone techniques and performance skills. This course also opens children up to a variety of music possibilities and genres. At this level child are given an opportunity to enter into the music production world of audio recording.
Objectives
By the end of this course one will be able to
- Sing in 3 part harmony
- Perform an impressive variety of songs from Pop, Reggae, Broadway and Jazz genres of music.
- Apply dynamics to enhance their performance skills.
- Scat and improvise over simple Major key chord structres
- Perform with a microphone and backing track accompaniment.

04.

Western Vocal Singing - Level 5

At this level children are introduced to modern pop songs, singing in 3 part harmony and Trinity rock and pop vocal exams. Improvisation, composition and ear training are important points of focus at this level.. Additional services of audio recordings, personalized music videos and music portfolio creation are also available to students at level 5.
ObjectivesBy the end of this course one will be able to
- Sing in 3 part harmony.
- Perform songs from Pop, Reggae, Broadway and Jazz genres of music.
- Apply dynamics and performance skills to their solo singing performances.
- Scat and improvise over simple major key chord structures.
- Create simple melodies and score them.

05.

Western Vocal Singing - Level 6

At this level children are given a more indebt analysis of musical styles and vocal techniques. Children are also taught about the history of artists and composers from yester year. Improvisation, sight singing and ear training continue to be an important area of focus as they are prepared for a Trinity examination. Performance training is a key area of focus at this level. Children are taught how to better express and emote while performing.

06.

Western Vocal Singing - Level 7

Children are taught the basics of using their nasal (pharyngeal ) resonator. They They are groomed as artists at this age and are given direction in their song choices and genres they choose to sing. This level also offers preparation for Trinity rock and pop vocal examination. Acapella singing is introduced at this level.
Objectives
By the end of this course one will be able to
- Expand ones chest voice range.
- Sing songs from different genres with accuracy and technique.
- Learn to sing in harmony without instrumental accompaniment.
- Improvise using scales and riffs.

07.

Western Vocal Singing - Level 8

Children are taught basics of music production and audio editing. They are expected to sing, record and edit their performances in creative ways. They are groomed as artists at this age and are given direction in their song choices and genres they choose to sing. Basic breathing techniques and the use of vibrato are introduced to them during this course. This level also offers preparation for Trinity rock and pop vocal examination.
Objectives
By the end of this course one will be able to:
- Record and edit their vocal recordings
- Add basic harmony to their vocal recordings
- Perform songs that suit their voice and range
- Use better breathing techniques
- Use basic vibrato while singing.
